Bank Of Montreal Heritage Property

Andy | Tuesday, August 30, 2016 | Best Blogger Tips
The Bank of Montreal is located on the corner of Charlotte and Dorchester Streets, in downtown Sydney, on Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia. The bank was completed in 1901, constructed as a direct result of the industrial economic boom that occurred in Sydney at the turn of the twentieth century. Large steel plants located in Sydney, fed by nearby coal mines, made Sydney a hub of commercial and industrial activity, as reflected in the establishment of the Bank of Montreal in town’s commercial core.

Built in 1750, it is a local landmark and is the oldest Anglican Church in North American and the oldest building in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Wonder why I am the only one in the church? There is a rumor circulating that if I enter a church the roof will collapse. So when people see me enter they clear out. I am linking to InSPIREd Sunday.

The original lighthouse was erected in 1734 by the French. It was the first lighthouse in Canada and the second in North America. The lighthouse standing today and pictured here was build in 1923. It is a popular lookoff point and in 2008 became the start of a coastal walking trail. Interpretive plaques mark the ruins of the previous lighthouses.

Blue On Blue

Andy | Monday, August 01, 2016 | Best Blogger Tips
I am a fan of B&W... Blue & White. The flag of The Province Quebec is often called the "fleur-de-lis". The white cross originates from ancient royal flags of France. Contrary to popular belief, the fleurs-de-lis are not taken from the banners of French kings, who used golden fleurs-de-lis. The white fleurs-de-lis, on Quebec's flag, are symbols of purity; which originally represented the Virgin Mary. Thanks to the "World Flags" for the info.
