Port Stanley
Located in Canada on the north shore of Lake Erie. It is famous for it's commercial fishing for walleye (pickerel). I'm linking to Lesley's Signs, Signs.
Its a nice pike on that sign.In early days it was a common fish in restaurants in the netherlands. Now you cannot find it anymore unless you catch the fish yourself. Something I did when I was 10 years old and in the canal before my parents house.
Every time I Hear about this place, I think I must check it out. But it always seems too far.
ReplyDeleteThere's a nice beach there for swimming.

ReplyDeleteCool sign!
ReplyDeleteThis is a great photo, Andy! Everything is perfect - the composition, exposure, color, sharpness! Wow!
ReplyDeleteI remember fishing for walleye on Minnesota lakes when a kid. Good eating fish!
Nice 'catch'. I might have to check out Leslie's Signs.
ReplyDeleteThat is a great sign. Have you eaten there?
ReplyDeleteI like cheesy signs like this one. :)
ReplyDeleteOn my second look I saw commercial fishing. No doubt there's a lot of sport fishing. Quite some fish on the sign!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to explore the shop, dine and stay options here, especially the dine. Great find of a sign!
ReplyDeleteI neeed to convince my "driver" that we need to go there. :))
ReplyDeleteA friend got his dog from Port Stanley and calls him Stanley, of course!
ReplyDeleteA big fish is definitely the way to make an eye-catching sign!
ReplyDeleteNice looking fish. I don't think I have ever had walleye/pickerel. I do like rainbow trout when it is on the menu.
ReplyDeleteGreat, clear, crisp, composed, colorful image, Andy. Love that fish!
ReplyDeletenice! reminds me of a summer day!
ReplyDeleteReally great Signs Signs post!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great catch on top of that sign. What bait did you use?
