Signs - Bike Shelter

The local cummuter train and bus station has easy to spot shelters to leave your bicycle. The service is operated by Go Transit and of course the wheels up there spell GO. I'm linking to Lesley's Signs, Signs.

Winter... Blah

The first taste of real winter rolled through here overnight. It is a mixture of snow and freezing rain. It is going to be a difficult day for anyone who has to walk or drive in this weather. Later today most of this will melt as temperatures will rise to 5°c (41°F). This is the closest I will get to going outside today. Staying inside on stormy days is a privilege granted to retired bus drivers.

Merry Christmas

Because of the lack of snow the white sands of Lake Ontario will be the only "White Christmas" that will be seen here this year.
Merry Christmas to everyone and enjoy your day.

A Hard Day's Night

It's been a hard day's night, and I'd been working like a dog
It's been a hard day's night, I should be sleeping like a log
But when I get home to you I find the things that you do
Will make me feel alright

Two Weeks Until Christmas Day

The nerve of those Whos. Inviting me down there on such short notice! Even if I wanted to go my schedule wouldn't allow it. 4:00, wallow in self pity; 4:30, stare into the abyss; 5:00, solve world hunger, tell no one; 5:30, jazzercize; 6:30, dinner with me - I can't cancel that again; 7:00, wrestle with my self-loathing... I'm booked. Of course, if I bump the loathing to 9, I could still be done in time to lay in bed, stare at the ceiling and slip slowly into madness. But what would I wear?

Gas Stations And Convenience Stores

Some people find "On the Run" gas stations are quick and easy solution for all their fuel, beverage and snack needs. Many On the Run stores feature a Tim Hortons, to fill up with coffee and a muffin on the way, or a quick meal when you're on the go. Keep your car clean with the Esso drive thru touchless carwash. It almost sounds like a sales pitch... doesn't it.

Why?

Sometimes I don't know why I stop and photograph something like these doors. My eyes say to me... "Andy, get that camera up to your face and photograph what you are seeing." This following quote from Elliott Erwitt, photographer, helps me understand what is going through my mind. "Good visual sense probably can't be taught, not at a profound level. It’s eye, but it’s also heart. I believe I have a good visual sense of other people’s pictures yet sometimes I don't really see my own pictures right away. Years later, after I've passed over stuff and thought nothing of it, I look again and see that some of it is pretty good (or that some of what I thought was good is pretty lousy.) I just hadn't recognized it yet. Boy, I wish I knew why that was. Did I change? Did the pictures change?”

Fill'er Up

Everything is here to get you started on the way to work. I think the operator makes a higher profit from what is sold in the store rather than what they do from the sales at the pumps.

Feeding Frenzy

This was just before sunrise and the gulls have spotted something in the water. There was no wind so that the cloud in the background stayed stationary for the longest time. The steam rising from the water this side of the point of land is cause by the hot water flowing from the nuclear power plant.

Dark Gloomy Day

Cloudy, windy, rainy. The overcast clouds dimmed out the light so much that the street lights came on.
