Sign Of The Times

A place to purchase CD and DVDs HMV has fallen to the digital age. A Ontario Superior Court of Justice approved an application to place the company into receivership. The Canadian unit was an offshoot of HMV’s U.K. operations. HMV is still a going concern in Britain. But not all is lost. Sunrise Records the Toronto based chain said it plans to open as many as 70 stores across the country after buying up properties made vacant when HMV went into receivership. The new stores will have a heavy focus on vinyl, which is seeing a resurgent popularity. Every location will have more than 2,000 titles of vinyl in stock at all locations.

Saving The Sign

Continuing from yesterday's posting. The the iconic Honest Ed’s sign will be saved and place outside the Ed Mirvish Theatre in downtown Toronto in honour of the store’s founder. A plaque at ground level will explain the history of the store and its connection to the theatre. This is one of the ways that people of Toronto preserve the city's heritage and history.

Holding One's Own

We think sometimes that poverty is only being hungry, naked and homeless. The poverty of being unwanted, unloved and uncared for is the greatest poverty. We must start in our own homes to remedy this kind of poverty. Mother Teresa
