Thorndale Mural

Anyone driving through Thorndale, Ontario will notice the mural painted on the east wall of the feed mill, facing the railroad track.
___

In 1999, Dick and Trudy Nieuwland commissioned London, Ontario artist, Fred Harrison to paint a railroad scene (on the original station site) as their way to help preserve the historical importance of the railway to the village of Thorndale.
___

This mural has become a Thorndale landmark marking the significant role the rail system played in early development and growth of Thorndale, as well as being the community’s lifeline.

Sweeper

The first time I ever saw security bars on shop windows was the mid 1970's, Times Square, New York City. At that time it was unheard of in Canada. It did not take long for for Canadians to catch up.

Chisholm Mill

In 1857, William Fraser Chisholm bought the mill site property on the banks of the Moira River. At that time, it consisted of a flour/feed mill and a sawmill. Since then, six generations of the Chisholm family have been involved in the lumber business in Roslin, Ontario.
___

The old mill (a rebuild after a 1944 fire) is unused and still remains in the Chisholm family to present day. It has turned in to favourite destination for painters and photographers.

Shed

It looks like a barn but in present day it is a storage shed. Located in a small rural town I am sure it was used at one time for animals. I am guessing chickens. On the left that is a outhouse... no longer in use.
___

On the inside the only thing of interest was the lonely teddy bear on the shelf.
