South African Memorial

Located at University Avenue and Queen Street West, Toronto. It was designed by Walter Allward and constructed in 1910 to the honour and in memory of the Canadians who died in defence of the Empire in the Boer War 1899-1902. The figures represent Mother Britain flanked by two Canadian soldiers.

Casa Coffee

It is so strange to see a mural like this that has survived the tags of vandals. I took this photo in Kensington Market, exactly one year ago to the day. You have to ignore 50 years on the mural because Casa Coffee has been there longer than that. In fact last May after 55 years the business owners decided to close shop. Rent increase may have been the cause.

Monday Night

Early morning and people are scarce. There's only three people walking their dogs and one crazy camera guy taking pictures with his camera on the ground.

Fighter Jet

The Canadian CT-133 Silver Star is only one of Allan Rubin's collection of vintage aircraft. This photo was taken in 2013 and since that time the entire collection of planes has been sold and shipped to San Diego, California.

Oldest Gas Station - Eldorado, Ontario

There it is in great big bold letters. But history tells us that the first Canadian gas station opened in Vancouver in June, 1907.
___

Unfortunately this station is closed and abandon.
___

So is the "Oldest Gas Station" sign correct? It is believed the gas bar opened sometime in the early 1920s and closed towards the end of the last few years of the first decade of this century. That makes it about 90 years old and that could make it the "oldest" (but not the first) gas station at the time of closing.

Mike "Wunder" Kennedy

The mural is tribute to Mike. Toronto's graffiti and street art community recently suffered a great loss with the passing of Mike Kennedy (2017) a talented graffiti artist and friend to so many in the community. The mural was painted by artists Getso, Sight, Arms, Wales, Tenso2, Braes, and CTRJ

Recycle, Recycle

A person can find many car parts at a junkyard, including windows, windshields, engine parts, door handles... etc.
___

On the inside it almost reminds me of a apocalypse scene from a movie.
