| On August 29, 2001, Ontario Power Generation officially started operating the largest wind turbine (at the time) in North America at the Pickering Nuclear facility. Eighteen years later... according to Ontario Power the cost to replace the turbine’s older parts is too high, and leaving the turbine in place but not operating would present a safety concern, they made the decision to move forward with dismantling it. |
...I've heard that this can become a problem when they age.

Thats not a really long lifecycle for such an investment. Lets say it was a test. Your photo on the other hand is very successful.
