Relic From The Past
Located in Tyrone, Ontario The building is a former hotel that dates back to 1835. In 1894 the Byams bought the hotel and converted it into a general store by adding the verandah and the shop in the front. The Byam family operated the store until it closed in 2003.
Poor thing is all wobbly. I've never seen this place before.I've been to the Tyrone Mills store though. I'm not a big fan of donuts but I have to admit that their cider donuts are quite yummy.
It's a lovely building and rather unique, I think. Hopefully, it will not be restored. I've been watching the Canadian Open golf tournament at Glen Abbey south of Toronto. Now that looks like a golf course should look like.
Re your question on Ocala: We've got five bikes in the garage now, so I didn't buy another one! :)
Great typical americana building. Must be one of your monuments.

I love country stores - it's a little sad that this one is closed. It looks a little forlorn.
ReplyDeleteOh stunning love that red.
ReplyDeleteGreat photo and interesting history.
ReplyDeleteIt was in business for quite a long time. It's a great looking building.
ReplyDeleteAwesome, hopefully someone saves this building and re purposes it!
ReplyDeleteIt would be nice if someone took over and reopened there. It looks fabulous.
ReplyDeleteOh, I want this building. Just the sort of building I love best!
ReplyDeleteK
Let's hoped it will be saved from demolition, it's a grand and historic building.
ReplyDeleteWow, that's quite a run. I love the ornamental metal on the screen door, that's what all the houses had where I grew up, it brings back memories.
ReplyDeleteIt is a marvelous place. I hope someone opens it again.
ReplyDeletecharming in it's day, I am sure!
ReplyDeletevery cool shot with the moody sky.
ReplyDeleteNeat, also that they didn't paint the letters on the sign. I guess it was easier just to tack letters up.
