Dancing In The Street

Halifax, Nova Scotia. - So far this is my all time favourite character I have photograph on the street. He had a ghetto blaster and was dancing to the music. He also had a empty coffee cup in one hand hoping for people to make a donation. The first thing that impress me about him was that he was offering entertainment (rather than begging) for loose change.

The seconded thing that impressed me was the big smile he gave me when he caught me photographing him.

Orange Man

After I took this photo a police officer approached me and warned me there were people in this part of town that did not like having their picture taken and that I should exercise caution. I thanked him for the warning and kept on clicking.

Dead Tree

I thought it was unusual to see a frame on a dead tree. When I got out of the car I realized the whole scene was worthy of a photograph.

That Sinking Feeling - Part Two

If you missed part one click HERE. Finally it is time to raise the houseboat that sank three days before Christmas. Fortunately there were no injuries to the couple on board.

*****************************************

The air bags under the houseboat were used to float it over to the boat lift.

*****************************************

Just to the right of the side window you can see the marks that the different water levels made as it rose higher.
One of the work crew told me they expect to restore the boat back to it's original state.

Signs - Election

In my Province of Ontario it's election time again. The tough part is finding a political party worthy of my vote. The Conservatives want to destroy the working class. The Liberals want to drive up the debt load and the NDP have a leader that follows rather than leads.
What is one to do? I'm linking to Lesley's Signs, Signs.

That Sinking Feeling - Part One

This is an area where people live in their boats 365 days a year. Bubble ups are placed in the water to prevent the water from freezing in the winter. Cost are much lower than living in a house paying taxes and up keep. Springing a leak in the basement is more of a hazard here than on a land based home. In this case the houseboat sank to the bottom flooding the entire home.

Monday Men With Beards - Streetcar

The big guy with the red beard is a streetcar driver. The streetcar had entered into a turn and the pole had come off the overhead power line. He had just placed it back on it and was heading back to the driver's seat. Like most public servants there was a time when beards were a no, no.

Life Is Pretty Amazing

One of the most common birds that dwell in our cites is the pigeon. They are so common in our daily life that most of us don't notice them. "Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it."

National Day Of Honour

The Government of Canada has set aside this day to mark the end of our country’s military mission in Afghanistan. This will be a time to pay tribute to the fallen, the sacrifices of the wounded and the special burden borne by military families. Afghanistan was Canada's first combat mission after nearly 50 years of peace keeping missions around the world.
