Downspout Ice


On a cold sunny winter day up on the roof, the snow begins a slow melt. The melt runs into the eavestroughs then into the downspout where the temperatures are colder. Thus we get ice flows like this one.

    Still strange that a liquid changes in cristal because of a temperature change.

    Our problems are a little different here. I just walked the pups for the last time in the woods. The mosquitoes were so thick I bathed in the Benadryl lotion when I got home. No more hikes in the woods. It was a little too warm any way.

    I think that when you live in an area that rarely sees ice (except in a freezer), that it appears very beautiful. I would imagine by this time of year you are ready to see the crocus peeking their heads out of the ground.

    it's crazy that water can freeze like that. You would think that if it's running, it wouldn't freeze. But no.
