Great capture, Andy! When I'm at the beach, I'm always fascinated by the cycle of life. Seashells wash ashore with mollusks inside...they wriggle out of their shells...only to be snapped up by a predator, like the seagull you photographed.
You've captured well the determination of this bird to fulfill its dietary needs!

It looks like the seagull is about to be caught in the crab's pincer. The crab may not need pity.
