I agree with you, we had to change the whole equipment and put away our records (although I still have some, just to look at the beautiful album covers....)
Years after getting rid of the LPs and switching to CD's I wondered why I wasn't listening to my faves anymore (classical). I read about a very good budget cartridge and decided to buy one. I'm now listening to vinyl 80 percent of the time--- and loving my old faves. It makes no sense whatsoever, but a 1960 LP really does sound better than the same recording on CD. You DO have to have a decent turntable, a decent cartridge, and a good pre-amp though.
We let go of hundreds of them when we moved to Washington. Vinyl was a big part of our lives but it was filled with the pops and crackles of the abuse they took. And they got plenty of that back in the day.

ReplyDeleteMe neither - I've gotten rid of anything to play them on. But it's kind of fun to look at the old albums anyway.
