| Ronald McDonald Houses provide families of sick children with a home to stay at while their child is being treated at a nearby hospital. The first Ronald McDonald House open in Philadelphia, inspired by Kim Hill, a little girl who was battling leukemia. |
That is a very nice initative that inspired many countries. We have a McDonald House in Amsterdam too next to the Children's Hospital.
ReplyDeleteThe architecture is so typical North American with that portico before the front door. All details you can only make when you have a lot of space. Thats why you never see this in the Netherlands. Streets are to small. ( But here in Almere we have now imported prefab housing from the USA and guess what. They have them.)
ReplyDelete...we also have one locally.
ReplyDeleteA timeless gift to those in a horrible situation.
ReplyDeleteThis is such a worthwhile program. I know where there is one here too.
ReplyDeleteThis is a fine program giving support to families and their ill children. That certainly is a flashy red front door.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a pleasant place. Ronald McDonald got a bad rep here for awhile but I can't remember why. I think they do good work, though.
ReplyDeleteNear us in the city of Groningen is also a Ronald McDonald House, it's so good and really important.
ReplyDeleteThey've got one here as well, near the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario.
ReplyDeleteSuch a wonderful thing!
ReplyDeleteThese accommodation hubs are in Australia too. Such a wonderful idea. I have family who have needed such comfort and place to call home whilst dealing with a sick child.
ReplyDeleteA wonderful cause - it must be so very difficult to have a sick child.
ReplyDeleteGreat places and many families can't do without them.
ReplyDeleteThe photo is what initially caught my eye, but I then appreciated your explanation of the good works by the Ronald McDonald foundation.
