The sun was still below the horizon but the cloud was high enough to capture the sun's rays.

Red Umbrella

Better known as a dualbrella, it is a umbrella made for two. A warning comes with it to avoid using it when you are alone, random strangers might tag along.

Spare Change?

Right at the moment he owns the corner. The green cup is for donations of spare change. It is 28°C/82°F and he is wearing a winter coat. There are times when the homeless wear their coats to protect them from theft.

Mirror Image

It was a great day for reflections. I have been getting inquiries about the guy with the camera. That is my son and every once and awhile we get together and photograph life on the streets. He is much better at it than me.

423 Yonge Street Totonto

Artist Adrian Hayles. The mural features the faces of music luminaries like Ronnie Hawkins and Gordon Lightfoot plus marquees from legendary venues such as Le Coq d’Or and Massey Hall, and the dual neon discs of the famed Sam the Record Man sign.
____

The mural is meant to capture Yonge Street’s heyday in the ‘50s and ‘60s when stars like B.B. King and Muddy Waters played in clubs along the strip.

Waiting

It is 6:43 A.M. and and local bylaws do not allow construction work to begin before 7 A.M. These trucks are parked on the side of the road waiting for the countdown to end. When that happens they will begin hulling dirt from the construction site of a new condominium hi-rise.

My Tribute... Sixth Of June, D-Day

The battle on D-Day was one of the major steps in the liberation of Europe. Pat Keely Free Holland Welcomes the Allies 1944. Poster printed in London in 1944 at the behest of the Polish government in exile when the assumption was the the war would be over by Christmas. The Dutch hired the best - Keely was an important much admired British artist. He envisions a victory parade route, brilliantly hung with Allied flags, doubling as a ghostly crusaders sword with the welcoming Dutch soldier standing in the crossing. The allies as modern crusaders was an omnipresent theme during the war. Dwight Eisenhower named his memoir Crusade in Europe. Ingenious and joyful design that alas, could not be used until the spring of 1945.

After The Rain

Recently there was a rain storm that lasted for 24 hours. When it was over I decided to take some pictures of wife's Columbine flowers. I set my camera up on a tripod. The big surprise came when I looked into the view finder and spotted a strange creature that I had never seen before. That white thread like worm was squirming and twisting trying very hard to move on up higher. After searching the the internet the best identification I could come with was Horsehair Worms. Please correct me if I am wrong.
