| Recently there was a rain storm that lasted for 24 hours. When it was over I decided to take some pictures of wife's Columbine flowers. I set my camera up on a tripod. The big surprise came when I looked into the view finder and spotted a strange creature that I had never seen before. That white thread like worm was squirming and twisting trying very hard to move on up higher. After searching the the internet the best identification I could come with was Horsehair Worms. Please correct me if I am wrong. |
Thats really terra incognita for me Andy but you captured it perfect.
ReplyDeletebeautiful :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful close up with the droplets. And that is a peculiar creature, never seen it before.
ReplyDeleteI don't mind what kind of worm it is, I alwayse think "yeekkk", when I see one and don't look twice...:)
ReplyDeleteI agree biebkriebels.. yääääk.. :) But the flower is beautiful.
ReplyDelete...what a soggy spring.
ReplyDeleteNice close-up Andy. I think you are correct about the ID of the worm. Worms are not my favorite creatures, they're gross... :)
ReplyDeleteThat's a worm???? I love your closeup with the water droplets!
ReplyDeletewow beautiful! and what a nice little surprise worm :))
ReplyDeleteI think I saw one of those coming of some old guy's nose! Nah, just kidding. I've no idea what it is. I do like all the water drops on the flora!
ReplyDeleteI would have missed that entirely. I've never seen anything like it. great capture.
ReplyDeleteIt's a whole different world when you get in close! Nice catch.
ReplyDeleteUnusual capture; cannot help with identification, tho. The flower and the droplet captures my attention.
ReplyDeleteEWWW!!
ReplyDeleteQuite an unusual critter to my eyes.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shot, and never would have guessed that was a worm!!
ReplyDeleteVery nicely caught, Andy! I like it!
ReplyDeleteThat's a completely new one for me!
ReplyDeleteI love the shot but a horesehair worm is a new one to me. And I'm sorta hoping we don't have them here. Those poor columbines are looking nearly drowned but they don't seem to mind it.
ReplyDeleteFantastic capture, it is amazing what we see after the rain.
ReplyDeleteI've never seen anything like it!
ReplyDeleteI don't think I've ever seen one of those worms. The poor Columbine looks like it's been drowned
