Chilly

Yesterday it was a hot muggy day with temperatures reaching 30°C/86°F. Overnight a cold front pushed through. Today the temperature starts off at 11°C/51°F. Cold enough for some people to wear their winter coats.

Bragg's Wild Bird Seed

Three quarters of the crops grown here at Bragg's go into making birdseed. Four different kinds of peas are used for pigeon seed, three kinds of corn for pigeon and birdseed, sunflowers, barley, oats for horses. They grow vetch and hard spring wheat. Soybeans are grown to help with crop rotation.

Pointe Mitis Lighthouse

The Steel Concrete Company of Montreal commenced construction of new, cylindrical reinforced-concrete lighthouse at Pointe Metis, Matane in 1906. It was completed in 1908. The two dwellings and fog alarm building were transferred to the Department of Natural Resources in 1978, and the fog alarm building was transformed into a laboratory for researching various insects and marine species in the area.
