Too bad it can't be saved, could have made an interesting museum, but I guess these days airports are considered more important! Great post for the H Day though! Hope your week is going well!!

I'm a bit amused - I visit Altona very often and it's anything but a ghost town. But then, it's the original, which is now a part of Hamburg. Do you know since when your Altona has been a ghost town?
ReplyDeleteI would love to get a look inside the hotel, I bet there are great photo opportunities there.
Too bad. Must have been nice, in its time.

We're flying into Pearson next week on our way to Europe, and I suppose the Greater Toronto area does need another international airport, but why must such things be built on the bones of other more interesting places like this hotel? (I know, a ghost town is probably an excellent location, but airports are far less scenic.)
ReplyDeleteInteresting choice for H day, Andy.

Great choice for letter H. It looks like it will collapse anytime
ReplyDeleteHave a peek on my letter H, see you.
And it is all but a memory....
ReplyDeleteSeems almost criminal to destroy such a historical place! But that's Canada for you, eh?

I hate seeing the past being torn down for progress but I guess its needed.

So much land is now haunted by ghosts and thoughts of that proposed airport!
ReplyDeleteAn interesting building - too bad it has to go.
ReplyDeletea hotel that could be used as museum or historic building...
ReplyDeletesad reality check, lighten up.
It is certainly an old fashioned looking building. It has kind of an ominous look to it. I bet the walls could tell some stories. It sounds like it is going to be torn down which is too bad.
ReplyDeleteIt's always sad to see great old buildings destroyed.

That hotel needs some improvement, as much as we want to keep the old look, people still go with the modern
ReplyDeleteSay Hi to my Horse, my entry for H.
