Angry Birds

Theses two geese were charging at me. I believe I was sitting in their future nesting site.

  1. I've not had Canadian geese come after me, but I have other, funkier geese chase me in Texas. And they could bite, too!

We do have a lot of Canadian geese in the Stone Creek community. Probably 'cause there are a lot of small, private ponds so they feel safe. I don't see them in other parts of Ocala.

    1. They like to eat grass so they are attractive to parks.

  2. They certainly can be aggressive...and these two look like they mean business.

  3. Oops - great shot, I probably would have been in too much of a hurry to get away.

  4. I have seen geese, well not Canadian geese, used as 'watch dogs' on an industrial estate. They can be very dangerous indeed.

  5. LOL! Geese will do that! Swans can be worse, though.

  9. Not much reasoning with a goose, and they are quite capable of defending themselves. But then you survived to post again. Well done.

  10. I'd say that's a good guess. Our nesting pair last year were very tolerant of me getting close to the nest to snap photos. Then one day, out of the blue, about a hundred steps away from the nest, pops decided to get aggressive. In his defense, it was only a few more days until the wee ones hatched.

    1. Unfortunately the City Of Pickering has a program to spray the eggs with oil. It kills the eggs and the female will sit on it too long before she realizes they are not going to hatch. By that time it's too late in the season to start a new nest.

  11. Oh, you definitely don't want to mess with nest-building geese!
