Air Force Graveyard #1

The Markham Airport is located on Hwy. 48 about 5 km. north of the Town Of Markham, Ontario. The airport tarmac is also home to a few aircraft from the defunct Canadian Air, Land and Sea Museum. Most of the collection is in a restricted area and you will need permission to enter. This plane that I believe to be a Canadair CT-133 Silver Star can be found in an accessible area. If you wish to see the planes in person the Google map location can be found in the post footer below. PS: The original photo was taken on a very dull day and had very drab colours. So I enhanced it by popping the colours.

  1. Interesting colors in this picture. The blue and brown from the plane are somehow a mixture of the sky and the ground, and the building in the background. Nice capture.

  2. Interesting..we used to see airplane 'graveyards' in the Southwest...AZ and the CA desert...assume because the weather is the way it is there, plus the space.

  4. I really like what you did with this. Gorgeous moody feel - inspires me think grey days are OK for photos after all.

  5. Always thought this was a beautiful aircraft. In the U.S. it would be a T-33, jet training plane. While it wasn't supersonic, note the straight wings, it was fully aerobatic. Would be great fun to fly one of these. Like your photo a great deal. Color looks natural, and the dark sky just adds to your image.

  6. I have vague memories of seeing WW II aircraft somewhere in the 1950s when I was very young. The shape of this one in your photo made me think of them, but I don't remember any where/when/why details.
Thanks for the memories, Andy! My dad was a WW II vet who died in 2009, and I still miss him very much.

  17. There is an air museum north of Hartford, which has old planes like this one. I have never been able to take good pictures there. Maybe this summer I will go back and try again.

    Love that sky!

  19. Love the contrast in this photo, the great clouds, and the magnificent form of that aircraft!
My grandfather was a pilot.. I got to fly with him in his 2-seater when I was a small girl. He was buried "wearing his wings." Planes always make me think of him.
Thanks for sharing this beautiful image.
