Vintage Public Transit

The PCC (Presidents' Conference Committee) is a streetcar design that was first built in the United States in the 1930s. Eighty years ago on Sept. 23, the PCC was introduced to the Toronto Transit Commission's (TTC) fleet where they remained until 1995. Torontonians for one day got the chance to ride on the vintage streetcar on Sunday September 23, 2018 to celebrate the anniversary.

  1. That would have been fun. I wish I had known but that was the same day as the Open Streets so you can only do so much. I hope you went for a ride, Andy!

  5. What a beautiful tram and it's great to have the opportunity to take a ride in it. A lot of stories probably were shared that day among the riders.

  8. I loved the streetcars, cable cars, and other street critters in San Francisco, Oakland, and Berkeley when I was a kid. This is a delightful image.

  9. So I"m guessing that is what we would call an old tram? We don't see many of them here in NZ except in Museums.

  12. A blast from the past! Except for the colors this is just like the streetcars I rode in San Francisco. Ours were green and cream. I can still hear what it sounded like going around curves.
