Canada’s Giant $2 Coin

First came the $1 coin with a loon on it. Canadians started calling the coin a Loonie. Then the $2 coin came along and we named it a Toonie. In Campbellford, Ontario this large sculpture was built to honour Brent Townsend, an artist who designed the unique polar bear art that appears on millions of these coins across Canada.

  2. It's nice that the artist is recognized for his contribution. The polar bear seems a fitting image.

  3. This coin is great looking, but must be hard to carry around. Way past time the U.S. should have a common dollar coin, and not the old silver dollars of old.
