Patio Season Over

Anxiety is running high among restaurant owners who foresee 'dramatic' losses when the patios close. It has been a tough year.

  1. They are allowing indoor dining now. I get that it's been a bad year, but if they wanted patio dining year round, they should have opened up shop in Florida.

  2. It has been so hard on them. Hopefully indoor dining will pick up a lot.

  3. It has been especially hard on restaurant owners. In door dining has been happening here all summer because it was two hot to eat outside. I've done it but I've been very selective. There were three places in New York that we wanted to enjoy again and they were closed...one permanently.

  4. We are in Missouri. Ate inside yesterday. One waitress for the entire restaurant and she also had to cashier. We ordered after a half hour wait and when they brought our food it wasn't what we had ordered. We were told to take it or leave it. The waitress told us that each day, she never knows who is going to show up for work. $45 later we left and decided to not eat out for a while longer.

  5. The past two years has been tough for restaurants. We do occasionally eat out, but we are still ordering take-out from our local restaurants. Our county still has five to ten cases of Covid every day, so the pandemic is not over. We live in a politically conservative place where anti-vaccination beliefs are common. These people keep the pandemic going making it hard for everyone. The outdoor dining season is over on the northern plains, and it looks like a tough winter to come.

  6. Take out is still popular here but there is also indoor dining but I don't know how popular that it these days. It's hard here when it's very windy and bucketing down rain. Some places had pods outside but they seemed to disappear recently.

  8. I have two vaccinations, wear a mask while entering and leaving the restaurant, wear a mask while ordering, remove my mask while eating and feel reasonably safe and also feel I am not infecting others.

  9. I started to write something about 10 times. Anti-vaxers make me nuts. I can't be civil--- so I'll just say, another very nice night picdture, Andy. Stay safe.
