Signs, Signs - Orange Simpson's

Andy | Wednesday, March 06, 2013 | Best Blogger Tips

I came upon this equipment rusting away on a rural lot. Everyone should be familiar with Orange Crush. When it comes to Simpson's I would think you'd have to be Canadian to know what they were all about. Simpson's was a Canadian department store chain, founded by Robert Simpson in 1858. The Hudson's Bay Company purchased the chain in 1978, and it ceased operation in the 1990's.
I'm linking to Lesley's Signs, Signs.

  1. I was a huge fan of Orange Crush during my younger days.

  2. Mmmm...drinking Orange Crush was a special treat as a kid. Even though I'm from Michigan, I'm not familiar with Simpsons. When I see places like this with rusty old equipment, I wonder why it's there, particularly when it's in the middle of nowhere.

  3. This brings back memories. Simspon's which at some point in some places became Simpson's Sears and eventually just Sears in some areas. The stores that were still just Simpson's went the way of Morgan's (remember them?) which was to become The Bay, like you said. And now our beloved Zeller's is gone.. sigh!

  6. It's always amazing the junk that's left to rust. These things certainly remind us of things we've long ago forgotten. Simpson's was right up there with Eaton's

  7. Love seeing the old Simpson's trucks - and two of them! I have seen the odd abandoned Eaton's trucks, but never a Simpson's one.

  8. The only thing I know about Simpsons is the Simpson family as in Homer Simpson! DOH! I love the old barn in the background of this picture and all the trees

  9. A great rural scene and, yes, I remember Orange Crush. I'm really liking that rustic barn in the background, however.

  11. I got my first job at Robert Simpsons down town Toronto Canada. In the credit department. Home Lovers back then it was called. Phoning up people to remind them they need to send in a payment. I was just 16. I hated that job. My dad got me that job. He knew the big shot.

I disliked Orange Crush drink and still do.

Your photo though is an awesome take.
