The people of the world genuinely want peace. Some day the leaders of the world are going to have to give in and give, it to them. Dwight D. Eisenhower. On remembrance day members of the armed forces are commemorated. The other common name for this day is Armistice Day which marks the date and time when armies stopped fighting World War I on November 11th at 11am in 1918 the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month. I'm linking to Lesley's Signs, Signs.

  1. Al those monuments but still no solution. Its a real pity and shame for all of us but you have to first understand it and here the monuments and remembrance days are playing their part.

  6. This is a lovely monument. In our town we do not have a monument to the WWI fighters and it upsets me terribly. When I asked about it, I was told that the old tank was in honor of the WWI soldiers. This is the second post I have read tonight dedicated to Remembrance Day. Mine makes the third. It is in honor of my daddy who was in France in WWI.

  7. It's a cenotaph that really stands out. Eisenhower's words are wise.
