This is the start of a new pedestrian bridge that is expected to be completed in the autumn. Connecting the Pickering Go Transit Station to the Pickering Town Centre, it will be entirely enclosed and heated in the winter. Read and see more at this link. I'm linking to San Francisco Bay Daily Photo.

OMG. I had heard about this bridge, but had no idea it would be so ... fancy and futuristic!
ReplyDeleteLooks like the bridge part is all ready to be hoisted in place, once the foundation is complete. Nice!
ReplyDeleteI love this -- a new pedestrian bridge. We don't have enough of those. It will be fun watching the progress. This may be a repeat comment -- if so just junk it -- I keep getting tossed out of the computer tonight. (Maybe somebody thinks I should get a life ;>)
ReplyDeletewould they lock it up so the hobos don't sleep in it at night?
ReplyDeletei enjoy this very different approach to bridges. It'll be interesting to see the completed footbridge.
ReplyDeleteAh, the pedestrian bridge to heaven! Is that also a white truss bridge I see, Andy?
ReplyDeleteYou got it Francisca. There are more staircases but with the construction it is difficult to get into a position for a photo.
ReplyDeleteWow, nice. I don't think I've ever seen a photo like this (i.e. in the beginning).
ReplyDeleteWOW! That rise is really steep. I could not understand the process until I checked out your link and looked at the drawings there. This is really a neat undertaking...like going to the moon. Please keep taking photos as it all progresses. It is so interesting. I am fascinated. Genie
ReplyDeleteSounds like it will be a good addition to the landscape!
