As the Paul Simon song suggest, it's "A Hazy Shade of Winter". With the lack of snow the true colours (drab brown) of the seasons show through. One day the lakes are frozen. The next it rains and the water opens up. Footnote: It seems like every time I post about the lack snow, it snows here. Last night it was a blowing and a snowing. Only ended up with about 3 centimetres. Today temperatures will be arising and it's going to rain.

We got plenty of the white stuff here last night. But as you said, it's already melting.
ReplyDeleteI rather like the shades of brown in this shot. It's not cheerful, but it's a nice scene.
Hazy shades of winter is so right! Love the shot, beautiful!
ReplyDeleteHa! My advice to you is to NOT mention there's no snow...then maybe it'll stay that way. :))
ReplyDeleteYes, a beautiful photo, Andy. I've been quite worried about people in Ontario driving their trucks onto lakes to go ice-fishing or snowmobiling. I wouldn't trust the ice out here where it's been +10 this week instead of -30, and I sure wouldn't want to be walking with those geese. But they look great, with the bullrushes and the open water.

....and not a bit of white to be found :)
ReplyDeleteLove this photo with those strutting geese.
