Located in The City Of Toronto, Dundas Square is focal point of downtown open space and event venue. All year long, people can enjoy free concerts and community events. The only thing that turns me off about the place is the gaudy signs that surround it.

This is a different angle of the signs that look down on the Square. I'm linking to Lesley's Signs, Signs.
Yep, see what you mean. Spoils the place
ReplyDeleteIt for sure gives a good impression of the place. A kind of times square feeling without people. Good clean street shots.
ReplyDeleteWow, it must be as bright as Times Square.
ReplyDeleteNice shots Andy. I enjoyed people watching while there.
ReplyDeletes.c. took the words from my mouth, it reminds me of Times Square! With less hectic chaos and people:)
ReplyDeleteThis is realy a big city view!
ReplyDeleteGreat compositions Andy! But, ick, I'm not a city girl.
ReplyDeleteI agree! That beautiful building is all covered up with signs!
ReplyDeleteIt is a bit of sensory overload! Nice to see some warm weather shots, Andy.
ReplyDeleteMaking money is all that matters here.. Nice to see the contrast.
ReplyDeleteI always liked the signs. They make the place lively!
ReplyDeleteI find it a bit of sensory overload. But, at least it's a bit of open space.
ReplyDeleteVery nice! I'm not crazy about all the signs, either, but I do like the space and buildings.
ReplyDeleteToo much distraction for me, but perfect for the challenge!

A different perspective is that all those signs provide energy, kind of like a more relaxed version of New York's Times Square.
ReplyDeleteI can't quite decide - I may kind of like the signs - something about all the colors and a sort of a Times Square feel. Definitely nice shots!
ReplyDeleteSign overload but I like the fountains!
ReplyDeleteGreat shots, so much more color than you usually find in a city. But the planners flunk for visual pollution. Ugh!
ReplyDeleteYeah I see your point, but I like looking at it...you know you're in a big city and that's a treat for those of us who don't live near one, but would love to visit!
ReplyDeleteI agree, they are overloding the signs, they are very distracting from an otherwise beautiful urban space.
ReplyDeleteMany, if not most, of the large video display signs are made right here in Brookings, SD. by a company called Daktronics. The company calls these "information displays" as they can be programed with any content. Most of the NFL stadium video score boards are also made by them. It was started by two engineering professors and has grown to be a billion dollar corporation which still has close ties to our university and employs a sizable workforce here. While you may think of it as "urban clutter" these signs are a local economic life blood.
