Flowing Water

I am using my neutral density filter to slow the shutter. It gives the water a smooth and creamy look to it.

This is not a dam. It is a barrier to prevent the invasive sea lamprey from going any further upstream. The jumping ability of adult sea lampreys is limited, so barriers function to block access to spawning habitat.

  4. Let us hope this little waterfall stops the sea lamprey in its tracks. They invaded the Great Lakes and eliminated commercial and recreational fish populations for fishermen. Along with the alewife fish they are a terrible invasive specie. Lake Michigan got salmon the eat the alewife. Control of lamprey, while partly successful, has been too late to save the large lake white fish populations. Good use of neutral density filter in your pictures.
