American Standard Mill Condos

When completed, residents will hear the rush of water on the Speed River and enjoy a stellar view of the Mill Pond. The building will feature condo style finishes and amenities including an expansive residents' lounge, large rooftop terrace and fitness facility.

The four storey limestone building on the right was initially built in 1847 by Jacob Hespeler as a stone grist and flour mill. In 1913 the stone complex became a factory for manufacturing kitchen sinks. American Standard bought the property in 1969 to build sinks and bathtubs. On Sept. 13, 2007, American Standard’s 58 employees left the factory and never returned. Their jobs went to Mexico. The old building is about to be converted into riverbank loft condo units.

  2. That is close to the waterfront, must give a lot of rush indeed. A sad story for the factory employees, that is the way it goes unfortunately.

  3. The factory has a revolving history of use. The condos certainly will have a great view.

  6. You captured time marching on with the older church spires; nature being held back by the dam and modern construction. Well done.

  9. I would guess these will be pricey condos when completed. It was sad to read that American Standard sent their jobs to Mexico. You'd think American Standard products would be made in "America."

  11. If I can go by your photos, the residents of those condos will have spectacular views out their windows. The condos may command premium prices.
