When I was kid using nature to dry the laundry was a common sight. It has since become a rarity.

  2. You can't do this in our community unless it is hidden in your back yard! Nice light here makes this a superb photograph!

  5. Oh wow, this brought back some memories. I remember helping my mom hang clothes out on the line. At first she had plain, notched clothespins and I remember when she got the "new" ones with the spring. I also remember that the clothes smelled so fresh after drying in the sun. Ahhh....fond memories.

  6. Yeah--- I remember a circular clothes line that could be turned--- back in the early 50's.

  7. It was the same for me when growing up. Over here people hang clothes outside all the time and if it rains, oh well it just takes a little longer to dry. I like the smell of nature's drying system and it costs nothing too.

  8. So true. This home makes it look almost like an old fashioned decoration.

  10. I know- I am always shocked to see clothes hanging on a line, that is how rare it has become. I used to have a clothes line and I used it daily, but then gave it to my daughter, who has not used it once. I think I may get my poles back and start using it again. I love the smell of clothes dried outdoors.

We do it these days also, if you live in your own house, it's possible.

  14. It sure is odd to see it so far north in the winter. My daughter hangs laundry outside whenever the weather permits. Her expertise is sustainability and the idea of using electricity or gas to dry her clothes offends her sensibilities.
