More and more people shop online. We see these empty gaps a lot here, it's getting a problem.
ReplyDeleteIts everywhere the same Andy. A new use must be found out for those empty spaces because shops are not cool anymore today. Nobody have foreseen this side effect of internet but now we have to do with it.
ReplyDeleteIt is a sign of the time helas...
ReplyDelete...who would guessed that malls would become a thing of the past.
ReplyDeleteIt's interesting how traditional shopping center's are slowly folding up in many locations. Then there are other locations that are thriving.
ReplyDeleteThat looks like a space I would just avoid. If the ad sign is not working to fill the space, something is wrong. Store must find a new way to get people into their stores or they are doomed to failure.
ReplyDeleteSome malls here have the same problem, while others seem to be doing better.
ReplyDeleteWe only have the one mall, its almost 30 years old and has never been completely filled. Sign of the times.
ReplyDeleteYou wonder where we are headed!
ReplyDeleteIt's a worldwide problem, I think. What bothers me is that our local "politicos" approve new strip malls or developments when tons of them have been sitting empty for a long time!
ReplyDeleteThe outdoor malls (like the older "shopping centers" seem to be more successful these days. Macy's is closing their store in the mall closest to us. Not much left there.
ReplyDeleteThere is a building boom around here...but it's housing and probably mostly for retirees.
ReplyDeleteMuy buena escena urbana, amigo
ReplyDeleteThat's an interesting and powerful photo, Andy! "Do the in thing", and the guy seem to be leaving. The in thing is no longer.
