Dalewood Dam

Andy | Thursday, April 16, 2015 | Best Blogger Tips

April 3, 2015. In the Springtime the flow of water over the dam is extreme. In the summer it can be reduced to trickle. Located in The City Of St. Thomas, Ontario the dam was original built to form a reservoir as a supply for drinking water. The filtration plant was built in 1890. The system served the community until 1971 when St. Thomas began receiving its water from the Lake Erie Pipeline, rendering the waterworks obsolete. The area surrounding the dam and reservoir has been turned into a conservation area.

  6. Drinking water from Lake Erie, huh? in light of last year's algae blooms due to agricultural runoffs and that lake's shallow depth (in comparison) it might seem that the choice to switch water sources may have been somewhat premature. Good luck with that.
