The Government of Canada has set aside this day to mark the end of our country’s military mission in Afghanistan. This will be a time to pay tribute to the fallen, the sacrifices of the wounded and the special burden borne by military families. Afghanistan was Canada's first combat mission after nearly 50 years of peace keeping missions around the world.

DeleteThink we have an a Armed Forces day coming up next month
ReplyDeleteI'm glad those who served in Afghanistan are being remembered. I'm not a fan of armed combat but I do think if we DO send them then we ought to respect them when they come home.
ReplyDeleteYes, they should be remembered.
ReplyDeleteI wish that there was a permanent stop for the need to erect these kind of memorials.
ReplyDeleteIt's always good to have a memorial day for military folks.
ReplyDeleteit's really important to have these special days and for our military to be honored. i like the reflection of "you"!!
ReplyDeleteUgh...war. But the memorial is beautiful. I think I see you in the reflection. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm glad there will be a permanent memorial. But no show of respect was more touching than at each of their repatriations. The Highway of Heroes impromptu ceremonies was a beautiful show of love, respect, honour and gratitude.
ReplyDeleteA sad day for many families, Andy!
ReplyDeleteI agree that we should honor those fallen and hope we can avoid the conflicts that causes out losses
ReplyDeleteI agree with EG Camera Girl & Kate.
ReplyDeleteStrong words on a strong monument.
