National Day Of Honour

The Government of Canada has set aside this day to mark the end of our country’s military mission in Afghanistan. This will be a time to pay tribute to the fallen, the sacrifices of the wounded and the special burden borne by military families. Afghanistan was Canada's first combat mission after nearly 50 years of peace keeping missions around the world.

  3. I'm glad those who served in Afghanistan are being remembered. I'm not a fan of armed combat but I do think if we DO send them then we ought to respect them when they come home.

  8. I'm glad there will be a permanent memorial. But no show of respect was more touching than at each of their repatriations. The Highway of Heroes impromptu ceremonies was a beautiful show of love, respect, honour and gratitude.
