This is an area where people live in their boats 365 days a year. Bubble ups are placed in the water to prevent the water from freezing in the winter. Cost are much lower than living in a house paying taxes and up keep. Springing a leak in the basement is more of a hazard here than on a land based home. In this case the houseboat sank to the bottom flooding the entire home.

That looks sad for the owner.
ReplyDeleteThats something you also sadly see sometimes in the amsterdam canals. Yes a lot of dangers for the houseboat owners with one outcome. Sinking.
ReplyDeleteTo each his own! I could never live on a boat.
ReplyDeleteOh no. Poor people. Hope they have insurance. I don't know if I could live on water, but I'd like to give it a try! :)
ReplyDeleteThat's a sad sight. There are hazards on land and sea (or in this case lake).
ReplyDeleteI wonder if that's covered by house insurance?
ReplyDeleteoooops!
ReplyDeleteoohhhh that's just so sad!! we have a lot of people here at the jersey shore that live on their boats!!!
ReplyDeleteIt has to be damp in the winter, Andy!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like an appealing option until you consider - and, especially, see - the downsides. I imagine that's a pretty total loss?
ReplyDeleteOh no! A flooded home is so devastating!
ReplyDeletethat will be a great expense.
ReplyDeleteYeah, that would suck. I wouldn't want to live on a boat all year, but it would be a nice place to vacation.
ReplyDeleteOh bubbles interesting. I was at a car wash on weekend with hubby. Andy I got carried away bit time. I think hubby thought I had loss my marbles not brains. The soap bubbles were so pretty and the smell was like the good old Jaw breakers bubble gum. Andy have a look at my post today please. .
ReplyDeleteYour picture is lovely and clear. Did your wife have a nice Mothers day? I did as well. Just got back so now commenting on your pages on your blogs.
Not good. My hippie-ish daughter lived in London for a few years and was very keen on living on a houseboat. Fortunately, her sensible fiancé prevailed.
