That Sinking Feeling - Part One

Andy | Tuesday, May 13, 2014 | Best Blogger Tips

This is an area where people live in their boats 365 days a year. Bubble ups are placed in the water to prevent the water from freezing in the winter. Cost are much lower than living in a house paying taxes and up keep. Springing a leak in the basement is more of a hazard here than on a land based home. In this case the houseboat sank to the bottom flooding the entire home.

  1. Thats something you also sadly see sometimes in the amsterdam canals. Yes a lot of dangers for the houseboat owners with one outcome. Sinking.

  3. Oh no. Poor people. Hope they have insurance. I don't know if I could live on water, but I'd like to give it a try! :)

  4. That's a sad sight. There are hazards on land and sea (or in this case lake).

  8. It looks like an appealing option until you consider - and, especially, see - the downsides. I imagine that's a pretty total loss?

  10. Yeah, that would suck. I wouldn't want to live on a boat all year, but it would be a nice place to vacation.

  12. Not good. My hippie-ish daughter lived in London for a few years and was very keen on living on a houseboat. Fortunately, her sensible fiancé prevailed.
