When I was a kid this was the only way to get a drink at the park.
Now thanks to bottle water, drinking fountains are obsolete.

  3. I don't think you took this recently, right? I never did like these water fountains what with every kind of sick person in the world drinking from them, and it always seemed the person who was the sickest got his/her mouth right down on the spout. Ugh! Looks like a bird might be building a nest in this one! :)

  7. As a kid, water tasted good from drinking fountains. Nowadays, it's yucky.

  8. You still find them in the parks around Toronto. There are often even drinking fountains for dogs with the bowls down low for the thirsty beasts!

  9. We drank either at a fountain or out of a garden hose.

  10. The janitors in the schools where I worked used to "sanitize" the drinking fountains but that didn't make them any less unappealing.
