The government is putting more and more restrictions on where people are able to smoke. For me that is good news.

    1. The original photo was taken in colour. I switched it to B&W which changed the mood of the scene. In colour she does not look rough at all.

  4. And the more restrictions the better! (They're probably correct when they say us "quitters" re the worst critics!)

  5. Aside from the occasional cigar, which I haven't touched in years, I didn't smoke. Cigarette smoking in particular is vile.

  6. I agree. I can't even remember when restaurants were smoke filled.

  7. I was supprised to see how some visitors perceived this photo - to me the lady (or the atmosphere) doesn't look sad or rough, I see it as a cigarette break that I see all around me so often. and I love that smoking is restricted in closed spaces. I was so pleasantly surprised with a sign on australian beaches - no smoking. hate beaches full of cigarette butts.
nice street photography, like it in B&W.

  8. I've never been a tobacco smoker so don't understand the need they have but it is certainly getting hard to find a space for them!

  9. Such an unhealthy and smelly addiction. Good catch.

  10. My dad died of lung cancer. Cigarettes are a killer and people should wise up and quit. Can't smoke when your dead. The photo is powerful in b&w. Nice shot!

  11. I quit many years ago. I don't preach at people, but I DO think that anyone still doing it is nuts! Neat picture though.

  12. You should try living in NZ, the govt has put taxes on tobacco and related products to such an extent where it really is ridiculous. I gave up 7 years ago and am very thankful I did.

  13. Same here, though tobacco is still grown here.

  14. Terrific shot and the black and white adds drama. I spent most of my life surrounded by smokers (and have lung damage to prove it). I took it for granted for years. Now smokers just look stupid to me.

  15. I don't know why anyone would take up smoking these days. It's a dirty and expensive habit.

  16. I don't know anyone who smokes tobacco any more. One of these days tobacco will become unavailable. I am looking forward to that.
