Many farmers are giving up their aging grain storage for the newer silos that are popping up across the province. Thanks to recent technology and equipment improvements, the grain handling industry is far safer and more efficient than it used to be.

Lucy
LUCY MAUD MONTGOMERY wrote 11 of her 22 novels at home in rural Leaskdale, Ontario. Her personal journals tell her story. Here she wrote… and here she dreamed. The Leaskdale Manse was the first home the author could call her own. In 1911, she moved to Leaskdale, a prosperous farming community, soon after marrying Ewan Macdonald. He was a Prince Edward Islander who had become the community’s Presbyterian minister. She lived at the Manse for 15 years and raised 2 sons, Chester and Stuart. She became famous, for publishing "Anne of Green Gables".

De Haviland Mosquito
What you see here is a historic model. The original plane was made of wood and yet proved to be perhaps the most versatile of all the allied aircraft during WWII. You can find more at the Model A Acres Bed and Breakfast and Historical Replicas.

Byam’s General Store
Byam’s store located in Tyrone, Ontario was a landmark for years. The building itself was built as a hotel in 1835 during the area’s pioneer lumbering days. Frederick Byam started his store in 1887 and moved to this location in 1894. Frederick’s son, Lionel, took over the store after his return from World War One. His son, Clifford, took over in 1965 and operated the business until January 2004. When Lionel died in 1982 many local people remembered that if it wasn’t for his kindness and generosity their families would not have survived the Great Depression of the 1930’s.
