Spring Corn Harvest

Don’t be surprised to see corn stalks standing right through the winter in some fields. Apparently wet fields, delay maturity of the row crops and low commodity prices paired up with high propane prices have resulted in some farmers saying maybe they will leave part of their row crops to stand in the field throughout the winter and harvest next spring when they will be at a lower moisture level.

Swan Body Language

You have probably seen swans with their wings raised like sails. This behaviour is a mild form of threat display called busking. Swans not only use it to deter potential predators, but also as a threat against intruding swans, before lunging or chasing them out of their territory.
