...a wonderful piece of history!
ReplyDeletei love it, i adore elephants!! we have one too, lucy the elephant, in margate, new jersey!
ReplyDeleteOh gosh, that wasn't good he got killed. Lovely to have the statute there and thanks for the history. I'm partial to elephants.
ReplyDeleteIt is still looking good!
ReplyDeleteThat is a pretty hefty looking statue. The story is a bit sad but, I'm glad he has been memorialized.
ReplyDeletePoor Jumbo!
ReplyDeleteI never knew Jumbo was killed by a train. The statue is a wonderful tribute to him.
ReplyDeleteRats?!?
ReplyDeleteMuch of our use and understanding of the term "jumbo" comes from the name of this elephant. It is a term of greeting in Swahili. Good that this elephant is fondly remembered.
ReplyDeleteOlá caro Andy!
ReplyDeleteMaravilhoso de se ver!
Um grande abraço!

What a terrible end!
ReplyDeleteI doubt that the train was in good shape afterwards...
ReplyDeleteSorry to read that story about Jumbo but nice that he will be remembered.
