Gathering of the Clans
Winter is the time of year when ducks and geese and other waterfowl are prone to communal behavior. Open water which many waterfowl need to feed offers safety from land predators and attract birds by the hundreds.

Kitty
Like many other physical characteristics of the cat, his moods are reflected by his eyes. Pupil size changes are the clue, an angry cat will have narrowed pupils, while an excited or frightened cat will have eyes wide open, with large pupils. A mellow, happy cat's eyes will sometimes appear a shade darker than normal.

Geese On Ice
Geese survive the extreme cold by using methods such as standing on one leg, tucking their bill into their warm down feathers, and utilizing their feathers like a thick, down jacket. They are built to tolerate and survive in cold weather, which is why a lot of geese don’t fly south during the winter.

Chickadee
You'll often see them at tray, tube or hopper feeders, especially in winter. They like suet, peanuts, peanut butter, black oil sunflower and seeds. Chickadees will visit the feeder at high speed, grab some seed and depart in a flash. That makes them difficult to photograph. Chickadees are an example of a bird who stays around for the winter months. They have special adaptations so they can stay warm during the winter.
