You'll often see them at tray, tube or hopper feeders, especially in winter. They like suet, peanuts, peanut butter, black oil sunflower and seeds. Chickadees will visit the feeder at high speed, grab some seed and depart in a flash. That makes them difficult to photograph. Chickadees are an example of a bird who stays around for the winter months. They have special adaptations so they can stay warm during the winter.

Whenever I see a Chicadee I welcome it with a phrase sung "Chick- a - dee- dee- dee!"
ReplyDeleteThey are such delightful company.
ReplyDeleteI watched one for quite a while last week but it never stayed still long enough to get a pic. They are so cute.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year, Andy!
Nice capture! The chickadee decided to make a quick stop to start the new year at one of his favorite eateries.
ReplyDeleteGreat capture of this cute little fellow.
ReplyDeleteThis is probably the most common bird I see in the winter. They are always active and seldom sit sill, so your photo of this one is great.
ReplyDeleteGood to keep our feathered friends fed in Winter.
ReplyDeleteGood bird shot Andy. Yes they are really water fast.
ReplyDeleteWe have a same one in our back garden, love to watch the birds.
ReplyDeleteI read about a new bird feeder with a built-in camera that would take a photo whenever a bird visited. The device would also be able to identifie the species.
