Two Official Languages

Andy | Tuesday, September 11, 2018 | Best Blogger Tips
French and English are the two official languages spoken in Canada. Most people speak one or the other but not both. I found this sign in the Province Of New Brunswick which is Canada’s only officially bilingual province.

  2. yeap, that's what we have here in Belgium (French and Dutch). can be tricky with names of towns, sometimes newbies cannot recognise some names (different in both languages).

  3. I didn't realize that New Brunswick was they only bilingual province. I guess I always thought Quebec was also bilingual.

  4. If I lived there I would make every effort to speak both as it would seem a cultural loss of you did not.

  6. The children sign is quite different from the usual version.

It's common to see bilingual signs here given our proximity to Quebec.

  7. That is a sweet sign, Andy! When I've been in northern New Brunswick it was a bit difficult to find an English speaker and my French is pretty rust!

  8. I guess you'd get a punch in the nose if you suggested that Quebec should be bilingual... Seems like much of the world is whatever's local, and English these days.
