Luck was on their side that day.
ReplyDeleteIt is a day of remembrance for many countries around the world and your picture is a great tribute. Unfortunately, these commemorations do not make men wiser....
ReplyDeleteIt always touches me to see the remains of that battle. I watched the remembrance in Portmouth yesterday on televison, so impressive with even some surviver soldiers of the battle nearly 100 years old.
ReplyDelete...a BIG beast of war!
ReplyDeletean overwhelming picture for me...but i am glad these reminders are among us!
ReplyDeleteA good post for the day, Andy!
ReplyDeleteA powerful machine and a powerful symbol.
ReplyDeleteThe Shermans were formidable tanks.
ReplyDeleteA killing machine. It's sad what we do to other human beings and ourselves.
ReplyDeleteWE MUST NEVER FORGET. Freedom and Democracy require continual guard.
ReplyDeleteI like the perspective of the child sitting on top of the tank. That's a big, heavy hunk of metal!!
ReplyDeleteMy father was there. He never talked about the war but I've recovered his Navy records and learned he was also in the Pacific theatre. It worries me that so many know so little about history.
ReplyDeleteThey seem small now... But what a day!
ReplyDeleteAmazing and nice to read about it too.
