Signs - Historic Bank

Three stories up the sign still exist but the building is no longer a bank. In 1955, the Bank of Toronto and the Dominion Bank merged to became the Toronto Dominion Bank. Then in the year 2000 a purchase of Canada Trust took place. Today the bank is known as TD Canada Trust. Or simply TD.

The building is located at 101 Brock Street South (at the south east corner of Brock and Dundas Streets). It was built in 1874 and was the Whitby, Ontario branch of the bank from 1875 to 1970. It was the only building in the block to escape destruction in the great fire of October 16, 1877. I'm linking to Lesley's Signs, Signs.

Traffic Jam

Yesterday morning a traffic accident has almost brought everything to a complete standstill.

Two men died after a collision between an SUV and two trucks on Highway 401. A pickup truck went under the back of the transport truck, while the SUV was crushed between the two trucks. The Highway was closed for about 10 hours. Cause of the accident has not been determined but morning fog may be a factor.

Two Gulls

Every morning the gulls fly inland to the mall parking lot. Here they search for scrapes of food left behind by yesterday's shoppers. These two have had their fill and now are soaking up a few rays of the sunshine.

Continuing my project of photographing the progress of the hi-rise condo building. Two days ago a mobile heavy crane was brought in to erect the tower crane.

Cape Egmont Lighthouse

Located on Prince Edward Island, Cape Egmont Lighthouse was completed and put in operation in September of 1884. It originally had an attached dwelling, which was removed in 1958. Due to severe shoreline erosion, the lighthouse was moved back from the surrounding bluffs in April, 2000.

Just off the shoreline one will get a bonus of Mother Natures's art work. Stand close to the cliff edge and you will see this sea stack. The wind and water have taken their toll on the sandstone cliffs.

Road Construction

This has been a year for major road infrastructure improvements. In this scene the road is being widen to accommodate Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) lanes. The people in the background are standing at the bus stop awaiting the arrival of the next bus... which more than likely, due to construction, is running late.
