The Swans have landed in the Aylmer Ontario Wildlife Management Area as of February 27th, 2023. They are on their annual migration from their wintering grounds around Chesapeake Bay to their mating grounds in the high Arctic. Because corn is fed daily swans concentrate in numbers here, reaching 3000 birds at the peak of the migration in late March. Some birds stay only a day or two before moving on.

Must be a good fish substitute then. Nice that someone is taking notice and going for the grain.
ReplyDeleteNunca he visto tantos cisnes juntos. Por aquí son aves propias de los estanques de los parques
ReplyDeleteThey must be so happy to have food for the long journey, Andy.
ReplyDeleteLove these beautiful creatures!
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing sight to see. This is wonderful that they have this stop to get some food before heading further north.
ReplyDeleteAndy, how great people maintain this migration stop for these beautiful birds. I wish then the best of luck.
ReplyDeleteHope they can go the whole journey. I read many years ago that corn and grains are better for them than bread.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful birds.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful creatures and I wonder who has put the food out for them!
ReplyDeleteA great sign of Spring.
