Oldest Gas Station - Eldorado, Ontario

There it is in great big bold letters. But history tells us that the first Canadian gas station opened in Vancouver in June, 1907.

Unfortunately this station is closed and abandon.

So is the "Oldest Gas Station" sign correct? It is believed the gas bar opened sometime in the early 1920s and closed towards the end of the last few years of the first decade of this century. That makes it about 90 years old and that could make it the "oldest" (but not the first) gas station at the time of closing.

  3. The fuel pumps are not all new but they are not lacking in charm and I really like this station which has a lot more pace than the ones we have or had formerly in France

  4. It needed more vinyl siding to stand up straight. Good point about oldest---

  5. The newer part looks in good shape so it is surprising that nothing has been done with it!

  7. This gas station looks to have been abandoned for years. Too bad they could not make it after being in business for so long, but the gas business has undergone tremendous change and many independent stations got left behind.
