Dandelions... friend or foe? They are pretty. They are bright. They are edible. Indeed, they are extremely nutritious, and have been used medicinally for centuries. So why do we hate them so much? |

...getting down and lovely!
ReplyDeleteFriends :)
ReplyDeleteI don't hate them, I find them photogenic. When I was a teenager my mother used to make wine from this weed, me and my friends "borrowed" a few bottles every now and then.
ReplyDeleteSuch a good question. Bees love them too so they have many benefits. Great photo!
ReplyDeleteI can remember picking bouquets of them for my when I was a kid - she never seemed thrilled! ;-))
ReplyDeleteSon preciosos y además son un excelente alimento para las tortugas.
ReplyDeleteUn abrazo y cuidate.
I suppose it's because they seed in our lawns and flower-beds. But I agree with you - they are great flowers, and so photogenic as your lovely picture shows. Years ago I used to make dandelion wine, and very good it was for a country wine
ReplyDeletePersonally, I love them. It's good that I do, because my yard is full of them. It's a super shot Andy.
ReplyDeleteDandelions are the very definition of ambivalence. They are beautiful, but we still don't like them growing in your lawns.
ReplyDeleteCould be because this time of the year they're on a crusade to take over the world. Around my house they're succeeding mightily.
ReplyDeleteBella sinfonia de amarillos... A mi me encantan... Nunca los he odiado
ReplyDeleteUn abrazo
I am NOT one who hates these Dandy Lions, Andy, so bring them on. Our granddaughter right now (age 20 months) is loving that they're going to seed now so that she can blow them away. :)
ReplyDeleteThey do look nice - you could make some dandelion tea if you wanted to.
ReplyDeleteTHey are welcome in our lawn-- for the bees. In fact, if it's green and alive, it's welcome in our lawn. Maybe not thistles.
ReplyDeleteIt are indeed beautiful flowers. Fill the ground with a lot of little suns.
ReplyDeleteI don't hate them, I like the pretty yellow colour, only not their smell.
ReplyDeleteI think they are lovely little volunteers! And this is a great photo of them!
