Dandelions... friend or foe? They are pretty. They are bright. They are edible. Indeed, they are extremely nutritious, and have been used medicinally for centuries. So why do we hate them so much?

  1. I don't hate them, I find them photogenic. When I was a teenager my mother used to make wine from this weed, me and my friends "borrowed" a few bottles every now and then.

  5. I suppose it's because they seed in our lawns and flower-beds. But I agree with you - they are great flowers, and so photogenic as your lovely picture shows. Years ago I used to make dandelion wine, and very good it was for a country wine

  7. Dandelions are the very definition of ambivalence. They are beautiful, but we still don't like them growing in your lawns.

  8. Could be because this time of the year they're on a crusade to take over the world. Around my house they're succeeding mightily.

  10. I am NOT one who hates these Dandy Lions, Andy, so bring them on. Our granddaughter right now (age 20 months) is loving that they're going to seed now so that she can blow them away. :)
