I don't know if this is a phenomenon that occurs in Canada only. Go to Tim Hortons Coffee Shop (they are everywhere) and purchase a coffee. It's served in a paper cup with an arrow that points to the rim. Roll up the rim and that reveals a message to what you have won. It could range from play again, to a free coffee, or a Toyota Camry Hybrid XLE. This promotion only last for a few weeks but it is an annual event.
I'm linking to Lesley's Signs, Signs.
Hai Andy
ReplyDeleteCan you show us a rolled out rim with a message. I am very curious how something looks.
Ha, there's a task for you. Force yourself to have a Timmy's coffee and photograph the rim. ;) I always win better luck next time.
ReplyDeleteNothing like that I've ever heard of before!
ReplyDeleteScratch-offs seem to be the usual way of winning anything in the USA. I too want to see the rolled out rim. please?
ReplyDeleteCheck back on Friday for a rolled up rim.
DeleteHave you found that they are getting harder and harder to roll up? or is it just me?
ReplyDeleteI have a photo of a winning cup you can see here http://violetsky-wwwblogger.blogspot.ca/2009/02/gagnez-un-cafe.html
There's a trick to rolling the rim up. Grasp the empty cup by the sides and push the rim up with your thumbs.
Deletehmmmn, a clever way to sell coffee.:p
ReplyDeletedid you win anything?
Good luck on your next cup Andy!
ReplyDeletethat coffee chain hasn't reached this side yet.
ReplyDeleteWill be anticipating a photo of you sitting in your new Toyota Camry Hybrid XLE!
ReplyDeleteI have won six coffees so far. Nothing more exciting than that has ever happened in all the years of rolling up the rim!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad just to see a photo of a Tim Horton's! I have a lot of Canadian friends here in AZ, and they all talk about Tim Horton's coffee!
ReplyDeleteThis promo must have started after I left Canada. What do they charge for a cuppa java these days?
ReplyDeleteI'm not a good "Canadian", I never go to Tim Horton's and I have never played the game with the roll up cup. :)
ReplyDeleteWe saw Tim Hortons when we went up east a couple of years ago and I am very sorry we didn't stop in to one. I love coffee, guess we just didn't know at the time what Tim Horton's was. Next trip ;>)...let us know what you won!
ReplyDeleteA rolled cup rim is a novel way of revealing a prize! I visited a Tim Horton's in Canada years ago and loved the food and coffee there!
